In 2001, Jan Jiracek von Arnim was appointed professor for piano at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, making him the youngest tenured professor in the history of that school. His students are regular prizewinners at international Piano Competitions. Mr. Jiracek von Arnim gives masterclasses on a regular basis, most recently at the Wilhelm Kempff Kulturstiftung Positano, Mendelssohn Academy Leipzig, the Academy of Music in Katowice, PTNA Japan, JPTA Japan, Hamamatsu International Piano Academy, China Conservatory Beijing, and for the Prof. Hlinka Piano Academy Bergen (Norway) together with Leif One Andsnes and Richard Goode on Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas.
He is a frequent juror at international piano competitions, e.g. Tchaikovsky for young musicians, London Piano Competition, Busoni Bolzano, Lev Vlassenko Competition Brisbane, Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, China International Music Competition, Dong-A Piano Competition Seoul. Mr. Jiracek von Arnim also gives speeches and lectures on a regular basis, covering topics like "Frédéric Chopin as a piano pedagogue" or the development of Piano Pedagogy. Recently, he was invited by the Vienna Musikverein to give lecture concerts with his students on composers such as Franz Liszt, Sergej Rachmaninoff and Frédéric Chopin.
His biography on Franz Liszt (“Franz Liszt. Visionär und Virtuose. Eine Biographie (Residenz Verlag, 2011)”) has been described as “maybe the very best Liszt biography” by the renowned newspaper “Die Presse”, Austria.
Mr. Jiracek von Arnim is the Artistic Director of the International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna and Chairman of the Jury of that competition, which is being held every four years.
In 2019, he was appointed Professor of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Chinese National School of Music and China Conservatory of Music.
